Busy Mom Makes the Time to Work out – No Excuses!!

My son had just turned 1 and I was looking through pictures from his birthday party. Looking through the photos left me mortified. I decided right then that I was not going to settle for the body I was currently living in. I decided to do something about it. I had heard about the Farrell’s Extreme Bodyshaping ten-week program and knew of a handful of people who had real success.  I hadn’t exercised in a very long time, so the Fall Session initial orientation was a struggle for me. Push-ups and sit-ups were a huge challenge and I had to walk a good portion of the mile run. The first few weeks of the program were physically and mentally enduring. I was tired, sore and more than once, wanted to throw in the towel. But then things started to change – I noticed I could do more sit ups than I did during my initial testing, I was making it all the way through kickboxing classes without having to take a break and I was actually looking forward to going to class every day. I remember, and still have, the email I sent my coach the day I was able to put on a pair of dress pants I hadn’t been able to wear in almost 2 years.

I completed my 10-week session and I signed on as a FIT member.  I also became a coach. The support I received during my 10-week journey was invaluable and I knew I wanted to give to others what I had been given – I want others to know I have belief in their ability to succeed.  I am not only a coach but now I am an instructor as well. Some days are harder than others but I am able to stay focused on my nutrition and getting to class.

October 2014, I found out I was expecting my second child. During my first pregnancy, I took the “eating for two” mentality literally and gained well over 60 pounds. The delivery of my son was over 3 hours long and I was exhausted. I knew this time, things had to be different. I discussed the importance of exercise and nutrition with my physician and with her encouragement I continued working out during my pregnancy.  I attended my last class of lower body bands 2 days before my daughter was born. I believe remaining active was the reason the delivery of my precious 10lb 1oz baby girl seemed like a walk in the park and took less time than a 45 minute FXB workout. 3 ½ weeks later, I was ready to start working out again. While the pregnancy weight I had gained didn’t just melt off, my body responded to the exercise and nutrition quickly and I was back in my old clothes just 12 weeks later. 

I am a working mom with two small children and the 45 minutes I devote to keeping myself active helps me be a better mom. I can take out the stress of the day with my workouts in the form of a puddle of sweat. After each of my daily workouts I then I go home to enjoy my time with my family.

FXB has given me strength and confidence in myself I didn’t know existed. Aside from the health benefits I’ve gained from my nearly 4 years with the program, I have met the most amazing group of friends that I know are there to support, encourage and empower me in all aspects of life.
